The Department of Endocrinology and Metabolism, Guangzhou Children's Hospital was established in the early 1980s. It has established endocrine and metabolic specialist clinics, endocrine and metabolic wards and endocrine metabolism laboratories. Endocrinology and metabolism specialist clinic mainly diagnoses growth and development, short stature, weight loss, obesity, early development of sexual characteristics, delayed puberty, polydipsia, polyuria, goiter, hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, parathyroid dysfunction Low calcium, high calcium, hypophosphatemia and osteoporosis, adrenal hyperplasia, adrenal insufficiency, metabolic abnormal rickets, diabetes, hypoglycemia, organic aciduria, amino acidemia and other endocrine inherited metabolic disorders . The endocrinology specialist clinic has a deputy director and above specialist doctors from Monday to Sunday, and diagnoses thousands of endocrine children from Guangdong, Hunan, Jiangxi, Guangxi and Fujian.
 
There are forty-three open beds in the inner six wards, the environment is clean and comfortable, and patients with endocrine and metabolic diseases can be admitted to the ward for treatment. The laboratory has chemical luminescence detector, microplate reader, PCR instrument, gas chromatography mass spectrometer, glycosylated hemoglobin detector and other equipment, and has carried out thyroid hormone and its antibodies, gonadal hormone, adrenocortical hormone, pituitary hormone, insulin, C peptide. Dozens of endocrine and metabolic tests, such as glycosylated hemoglobin, urinary microalbumin, urinary β2 microglobulin, urinary congenital genetic metabolic defect screening, etc., can be used to issue test results on the same day or the next day. It is a children's endocrine and metabolism specialist with strong technical strength and complete equipment in Guangdong Province. It receives several doctors' study and study every year, undertakes 2 to 3 provincial-level scientific research projects, and publishes dozens of academic papers.
