Guangzhou Children's and Children's Medical Center Children's Hospital (formerly Guangzhou Children's Hospital) was founded in 1928. In 1980, the Department of Nephrology was established and children's peritoneal dialysis was carried out. In 1990, children's hemodialysis was carried out. In 2006, it merged into the Guangzhou Women and Children Medical Center. Currently, the Department of Nephrology is one of the largest units of pediatric nephrology in South China.
 
There are 16 in-service renal specialists and 18 nurses. Among them, there are 5 chief physicians, 4 deputy chief physicians, 2 attending physicians, 2 postgraduate tutors, 2 doctors, 7 masters, 1 deputy chief nurse, and 5 supervisors. There are 41 inpatient beds in the Department of Nephrology and 5 beds in hemodialysis. A full-day outpatient clinic for kidney disease is opened. In 2016, a sub-specialist clinic for children's enuresis is added. The number of discharged patients is over 2,000 per year, and the number of outpatients in the kidney specialist is about 40,000 per year. , enuresis specialists about 5,000 people, blood purification (including hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, others) about 1,000 people a year, more than 300 kidney biopsy every year.
 
The department has domestic advanced medical equipment, which can carry out various modes of blood purification technology, including peritoneal dialysis, hemodialysis, hemodiafiltration, plasma exchange, blood perfusion, DNA immunoadsorption, continuous renal replacement therapy, dual plasma. Replacement, etc., can be comprehensively and completely used in the diagnosis and treatment of various pediatric kidney diseases (including primary, secondary, congenital inherited nephropathy) with the latest technology and methods, providing a solid diagnosis and treatment platform for difficult cases. In 2017, more than 1,000 difficult and critical cases were treated. In 2017, the perioperative work of children's kidney transplantation was carried out. Up to now, 10 patients have been successfully transplanted with kidney and survived well.
